My daughter, Kristie and I went to the Binder Park Zoo yesterday. It was a great day! I have been wanting to go there for a long time to see the giraffes. They were really something else. It was the first time I’ve seen a giraffe in person and it was quite thrilling. They have a high platform at the exhibit where you can stand and feed them over a railing (or through a mesh fence if you can’t reach over the railing), so you can pretty much see the giraffes face to face! I was surprised at how long the giraffes’ tongues are! The zoo sells lettuce that you can feed to them and the giraffes can stretch their tongues out really far to reach the lettuce and then can curl their tongues around it to bring the lettuce into their mouths. Feeding the giraffes was worth the price of admission all by itself.
I KEPT MISSING THE TONGUE SHOTS!

LOOK HOW TALL THEY ARE!
The other highlight was a stop (actually two stops) at the children’s petting zoo to visit with the goats. I love goats and someday am going to get some. I don’t know what is it about them, but they make me happy:)
