The other day, Steve decided to take his fishing pole down to the pond to see if he could catch anything. He thought maybe he could hook one of the little Blue Gills we see swimming around in there, but was totally shocked when he pulled this big Bass out of there! He couldn’t stop giggling! Haha! He kept saying, “Finally, there is a use for this pond!”
I have to admit we have been struggling trying to keep the pond presentable. Last summer I spent months raking algae and weeds out of there. This summer we took a different route. Steve kept spraying the pond with algaecide and we finally have it under control. I think the trick is to start spraying it before it gets really bad.
Anyway, it is a relief to have a clean looking pond back. I haven’t been swimming in it yet this year because up until recently it hasn’t looked the least bit tempting. We have had so much rain that it has been muddy looking, so even if there was no algae, it still didn’t look nice enough to swim in. Oh, and the mosquitos! With all the rain the mosquitos have been awful, but even they are mostly gone now. So, if we ever get the warm summer weather back…….look out pond – here I come!
I don’t know if Steve will let me swim in it now though – he might be afraid I’ll scare all his fish! Ha!
The first fish Steve caught was a little Blue Gill, but I didn’t have the camera with me. Then, right after he threw the Blue Gill back into the water, he caught a big Bass. That’s when I ran up to the house to grab the camera.
I thought for sure that since I now had the camera and was all ready to get some pictures, that he wouldn’t catch anything else. Well, he sure did! He caught 3 more big Bass!
He’s got a big one on the line!
The Bass is putting up a pretty good fight!
Looks like he is pooped out now!
Lucy and Tucker thought they were going to get a treat for dinner!
There goes the poor fish – wondering what the heck just happened!
